Loving our bodies can be one of the hardest things to do. We see all these bodies that are praised in the media while the others are bashed. However, what’s important is not what everyone else thinks about your body but what you think.
Every person’s body is unique.
Everyone was made different. Everyone is a different size. No two bodies are made the same, and that’s amazing! Variety is the spice of life. No law states that our bodies should be a particular way. Of course, sometimes it feels like society tries to tell us how our bodies should be, but that is not important. What’s important is the way you look at your body and the way you treat your body. Sometimes you may find it hard to love your body the way it is. However, you have to, because you can’t depend on someone else to love it for you.
You’re going to spend the rest of your days with your body. What are you going to do, hate it, and live miserable forever? No! You need to start loving your body. I understand that sometimes it’s difficult when it is not how you want it to be, but it’s still yours, and it is precious. Never let anyone tell you anything different. Stop bullying yourself! There are enough persons out there to do that for you. Make sure that you show yourself the respect that you deserve.
Love Your Body!
You might be thinking, but how can I?! Not when I have all these stretch marks. Look at those marks, smile, and embrace the lioness you are. Run your hands over them and embrace their presence. Learn to love them. Do not be ashamed of your stripes. Then you might say, how can I love my body with all these scars? Your scars hold beauty and strength. They represent whatever you have overcome. Don’t be disgusted! Think of them as marks of a warrior, an overcomer. I understand that some scars may have terrible memories but look at them and think of how you’re still here fighting. You are a warrior.
You might even say, how can I love myself when I’m missing a body part? Your body parts do not determine your beauty! Your body isn’t less deserving of love because you have a leg missing or you no longer have breasts. Stop it! Your body is wonderfully made. No matter your color, skin or your size. Whatever you find to complain about, remember that you are marvelously made. All it takes is for you to realize this. Find that inner love for you!
Don’t look for things to hate.
Once you start looking for things to hate, you’ll find them. Instead, choose to love. Little by little, start loving the parts of you you hate. This is your castle filled with rich history! Treat it with the utmost care to preserve its wonderful delicacy. Don’t be afraid to look in a mirror when you’re naked. Look in that mirror and tell yourself you are beautiful. You are wonderfully made. Look in that mirror at all your insecurities day by day and train your mind to love them. Don’t be afraid to look at your body, to love and embrace your body. Do you want to know something weird? It’s all yours! Yours to keep and to love. You have been blessed with this precious commodity, and it’s up to you to love it, nobody else.
Only change for you.
If you decide to change aspects of it, ensure you’re changing because you want to and not because it’s what society desires. Don’t start dieting because you’re told you’re too fat. Only diet if that’s what you choose to do. Don’t exercise to punish your body. Only exercise if you’ve made the decision that this is what you need to be healthy. When you make changes for the wrong reason, you may become unhappy. Don’t compare your body to others and tell yourself that that is the way you should look. Always remember that when you log off of that phone, you’ll be the one there with your body. Always remember that you can’t please everyone, so ensure that you’re pleasing yourself.
Take care of your body
A part of loving your body includes taking care of it. You can have a skincare routine. A skincare routine doesn’t have to be expensive. Start with small changes that will do your skin wonders, then improve as you go along. Remember to drink lots of water. Your body needs water to be its true self. Loving our bodies means that we also try our best to keep them healthy. This doesn’t mean you should only eat fruits. Eating healthy is about having a balance of everything in your diet. Some of us love meat but remember your body needs greens too. Remember to keep active. There are plenty of simple activities that you can do that don’t take much time or effort. Can you imagine if every day for 5 mins you just walked around your house? The small things matter and have an impact. Remember that in the end, it’s your body, and you must treat it right. Start taking care of it now, and later in life, it will continue to take care of you.
Your body is your transport for the rest of your life. Take care of it! Love it!ferventfireflies.com
