a particular period of time in history or a person’s life.
plan, schedule, or arrange when (something) should happen or be done.
Time. Time is probably among the most talked about topics. As humans, we’re always thinking about time. What time of the day is it? When will an event take place? How long will you spend there? What are you going to do tomorrow? When will our goals be achieved? How long will I have to wait to be where I want?
Don't Be Another Hand On A Clock.
You might be thinking, what! What does that even mean? How can I be like another hand on a clock? If you think about it, a lot of us live as hands on a clock. We are always thinking about time. We need to be awake by 6 am. Breakfast needs to be ready by 6:30, and we need to be at work by 9. Lunch is at 12 and work ends at 4. I’ll be home by 5, and dinner will be ready at 6. Well, it seems bedtime will be at 9, and I have to be awake at 6 in the morning. Every day it’s the same routine! You operate as a hand on a clock. Every hour all that consumes you is 60 things to complete before the next hour arrives. When that hour comes, it’s the other 60 tasks to conquer before the next hour arrives! You’re spending your life just ticking around the clock. Break out of this habit.
Let Life Surprise You Now & Then
Understandably, a few things need to be on a schedule. It’s also understandable that some of us need that type of structure to feel accomplished at the end of the day. However, I have found that the more you think about time, the faster it seems to pass by. The more you plan your life down to every second, is the less you live. Where’s the spontaneity? Life is full of surprises, some of which are amazing! It’s okay to let life surprise you now and then. Living as a hand on a clock can make you unhappy. When we don’t complete all the tasks we planned for the day, we feel disappointed. It’s okay to want structure in your life and to want to plan every moment. Plan some time for life.
Everything in life happens at once.
You don’t work towards a career while the other half of your life waits until you are finished. Don’t spend your entire time on one thing and completely neglect the others. Try to balance. While you’re consistently working on one main task, life is happening. One day you will stop to take a breather and realize that life has passed. You spent most of your days focused on this one goal and missed out on all the other joys of life. Don’t let this person be you. Yes, it’s necessary to work towards what you want. Yes, goals take up a lot of time but remember while you work that life is happening. Take the time to enjoy it now and then. Don’t merely be alive, live. Let life surprise you now and then. Take the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Remember, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
Everybody has a different timeline.
A lot of us spend our time on social media. We might see persons younger than us achieving things that we may want to. A few persons our age completing what we originally planned to have at that age. Often we think to ourselves, what am I doing with my life? Stop! Don’t compare yourself to others! Don’t think you’re life is wasting because you’re not where you want to be when you want to be there. Everybody has their own timeline! Everybody has different resources. You don’t have to achieve something when everyone else has.
Never base your goals on someone else’s timeline! You’re living your own life with your resources. It’s not about how long it took you to get to where you want to be but the fact that you got there. It’s not about how long it took you to complete school, but the fact that you finished it through whatever trial you had. Don’t focus on how long it took you to get a house but on the fact that you kept working until you got it. Stop basing your life on the timeline of others! You have your own timeline, resources, and trials. It’s about using those sometimes limited resources and overcoming those trails to reach your goal.
You have your own life to live. This bad habit can leave you very unhappy and discouraged. You’ll begin to think it makes no sense to push on and keep working when persons seem to be doing less and achieving more. Please remember everyone has different resources. Some persons have more impactful resources, and the grass is not always greener on the other side. Be grateful for what you have and where you are. It’s okay to go slow. It’s okay to go fast. Just ensure you’re going based on your realistic timeline. Evaluate your life, your trials, and your resources, then make your timeline based on those. That way, you’ll have a timeline fitting for your life. Don’t fret about how long your timeline seems. Focus on the fact that one day you’ll get there.
Everything Takes Time
I find that we as humans like things to be done the moment we demand it. We like things on our timeline. The majority of us are impatient and hate having to wait. Some of us are willing to wait, but after a few months, we begin to grow impatient. I am also very guilty of this. However, it’s important to remember that everything takes time. We all would like to snap our fingers, and our wants appear right now, but everything takes time. Most times, when we want something is not when we should have it. How many times have you wanted something, and it kept getting delayed? You then get frustrated and sometimes discouraged. Then it comes through when you needed it the most. A lot of times, when we want something is not when we need it. There is a time for everything under the sun. Everything takes time, everything happens for a reason, and everything will happen when it’s time.
Time will forever be on our minds. Don’t let it take away your joy. Plan your life all you want but make time for living. Remember, everything takes time, and your timeline is not someone else’s. Please don’t compare your life to others. The majority of the time, things aren’t what they seem. Don’t let life pass you. Choose not to be alive but to live.
