Dream or vision
A dream is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind during sleep. However, a dream can also be an aspiration or ambition.
Do you remember Having dreams as a child?
When we’re younger, we see ourselves doing such great things. Astraunots preparing for our very first launch. Chefs who just made one of the best recipes. Writers swiftly trying to finish that book that’s sure to make someone fall in love. Not to mention singers who are performing live in front of millions of roaring fans.
How dare we forget painters who create stories with the swipe of a brush? Actors who take pride in placing their audience at the edge of their seats. Doctors who are busy saving lives. Likewise, wizards attending Hogwarts and witches casting spells to turn brothers into lizards. Dragons who are soaring through the sky and unicorns who are prancing around. Please don’t say we have forgotten.
What happened to those dreams?
Sure some of them were, at the very least, out of this world. Despite this, we still dreamed. We dared to imagine the vast possibilities. What about those dreams that are achievable? What about those dreams that still haunt our every move. Why have we pushed them aside?Like Martin Luther King Jr, I believe that all of us had a dream. Some of us still have visions and plans for the future. While for others, those hope and dreams no longer exist.
why have we chosen to limit ourselves?
With the disappointments in life, I taught myself never to have grand expectations. Never expect much from people or situations. I taught myself to never expect much from me. The one person you think would be dependable. Do you know what’s crazy about that? Many of us have thought ourselves likewise. We have chosen to limit ourselves!
Repeatedly we say, it makes no sense to dream because we’ll never achieve it. It makes no sense to hope if it’ll never come through. There’s no sense in seeking your wants if at this moment in time you could die. No sense at all! However, why don’t we ever think that living without a purpose makes no sense?
Negativity kills dreams.
Negativity is one of the biggest killers of dreams. Our minds can feed us poisons. If we accept these thoughts as facts, our minds will continue to create more. When you tell yourself you can’t achieve your dreams, you won’t. You have predetermined your capabilities. Therefore, there’s no need to try something new. You started with a negative outlook. Dare to dream! Being a dreamer requires courage, dedication, confidence, hard work, determination, hope, and so much more. However, it first begins with a positive thought. Dare to dream.
What are you doing with your time?
Every day is a blank canvas of 86,400 seconds ready for you to turn into art. For those of us without dreams, what are we working towards every day? Are we just breathing to one day die? On the other hand, what about those that sweep our dreams under the rug? What are we doing with those seconds? Are we telling ourselves that we can’t make it? That we can’t do it.
Let’s open our imaginations for a second and think. What if the seconds we used to tell ourselves we can’t, we used to figure out how? How ridiculous! What if we decided to work on rewiring our thoughts? Here’s a crazy idea. Suppose we used 500 from the 86,400 to attempt? With every second of the day that you’re telling yourself that you can’t, you could be working towards making your dream happen. You could be taking that next step to something beautiful.
Don't be afraid to have a Dream.
Don’t let fear hold you captive! There’s nothing that states that your dream will work out the way you want it. No promise that you’ll even accomplish it at all. However, that fear of failure shouldn’t stop you from trying. Be brave enough to try. Reduce your dreams to steps and slowly start climbing. Start simple and build your confidence as you go on. If it doesn’t work out, don’t spend your days disappointed in yourself. Be proud that you were brave enough to try while others never even took the first step.
You are not bound to your dreams. Your dreams may change as you mature. It is necessary to recognize that merely having an idea or a vision will not make it come through. You have to put in the work that your goal requires. You have to figure out what it takes to accomplish your vision, and you have to be brave enough to seek ways to make it happen. Face your fear.
Become a baker.
A baker never says to the oven I want a chocolate cake, and it pops one out. Bakers gather their ingredients, combine the required amounts of what they have, and place them in the oven to undergo extreme heat. At the right time, the baker opens it, and something beautiful and delicious emerges. Not everyone is that lucky! Some bakers cake emerge beautiful but a little dry on the inside. A few are cracked but delicious. For some bakers, no matter how hard they try, their cake will always emerge burnt. Even if they followed a recipe to the T. What is your point, you might ask?
Dare to dream today!
Slowly let go of your fear. Allow your mind to take you on a journey of possibilities. Never allow your mind to hold you back. Don’t allow self-doubt to keep you down. Break free from the claws of negativity. Dream! Have a goal. Never be scared to have a vision! Start small. It doesn’t have to be magnificent. Maybe your dying to learn how to finally draw a hand. Yearning to complete that book you always wanted to write. Longing to try a new recipe. Hankering to start your own business. Maybe your vision doesn’t make sense to those around you. Does it make sense to you? Dream it! Believe it! Try it!
Find that child within you and start with a positive mind. If halfway through your positivity runs low, remind yourself why you started in the first place. It always seems easier to believe in the dreams of others. What about yours? Just this once, do something for you. Create a small goal. Nothing in this life is guaranteed. It might not turn out the way you want. However, in the end, you can proudly say I wasn’t afraid to try. We only have one life. When the curtains are closing, will you be left saying I wish I had?
People or things around us can sometimes seek to limit our visions. Never let the one limiting them be you!
